$5 bounty on stray cats? Sign me up!

So this city in Iowa is having problems keeping their stray cat population under control. The city council decided to pay alert, proactive, responsible citizens (you know, people who don't have cats) five bucks for each stray cat they bring in.

Unfortunately, it appears that you have to bring the cats into the vet alive so the vet can do what? Kill them. Seems like you could follow Jim's example (see above photo) and save some money - a .22 round is cheaper than a shot at the vet.

Dang it. I thought I could retire early. Rob, our dream will have to wait.

  2. Indeed it is! Cats kill birds. ;)

  3. I have nothing against cats living indoors, but pet and feral cats living outside are responsible for killing hundreds of millions of birds and more than a billion small mammals each year. There are several well-documented cases of cat predation causing bird species extinctions. Cats simply don't belong outside!

  5. That is terrible! How would you like it if you were born homeless and you started killing deer for food and someone shot you because they thought you were killing innocent deer for sport? What if you died because you were just trying to survive? That seems so unfair. I wouldn't want to die because of it.

  6. And who cares about birds? They kill more people and other species than cats do. Hmph.
