Funnel cloud in Salt Lake

Snapped this shot on my way home from work. If you look at the left side of the picture just above the cement barrier you can clearly see a funnel cloud forming. I took these pictures on 500 South coming out of downtown.

  1. are you sure you didn't just use the smudge tool in Photoshop?

  2. :) Yeah. If I was going to Photoshop something it'd be more bizarre than a funnel cloud.

  3. Dave- was it around 6:45PM last night? I think I saw it as I was coming over point of the mountain.

  4. Were your pictures on the news? Are you a celebrity? Can I have your autograph? Will you sign my funnel cloud?

  5. So you told me to watch the news, but I got involved in a birthday celebration for some people in my dinner group and totally forgot until about 10:20. But hey, at least the pictures are on your blog, right? Did they even mention your blog? Have you now received 5,000 hits since yesterday?

  6. @ Brett - Yup.
@ Amy - Yes. Yes. Yes. Definitely.
@ Erin - No. They didn't mention the ol' blog even though they said they would. I'll be posting about the whole experience soon.

  7. Holy cow! Awesome photo!

When I was a little girl, I asked my mom why a tornado wouldn't come to SLC and take me to OZ. She said the mountains protect us.

She's eating her words on a regular basis now!

  8. Laura: speaking of Oz, have you heard of/seen Wicked? Great Broadway play about the witches of OZ, how they know each other and what REALLY happened before Dorothy showed up.

  9. howard...too bad they didn't mention the blog on the news. cause if they had you could be singing "popular...i'm gonna be popular!" which would be very fitting considering the 'wicked funnel cloud.' although, i'm not sure green is really your color ;)
