Monday is the day*

Yup. The doctor told us that if my wife doesn't have the baby this weekend, they're going to induce her on Monday.

The nurse popped her head in once to tell us the doctor had been called down to do a delivery.

OK.

A while later she came in again, apologized for the delay and, almost as an aside, mentioned they'd scheduled our induction for Monday.

Pardon?

Apparently she was under the impression we'd already been informed of this. We hadn't. Sure enough, we're heading to the hospital Monday morning if the little tyke doesn't decide to come on his own, sooner.

It came as a bit of a shock. We actually have a deadline. "You mean, he's actually going to show up??"

Reality has just come extremely close to setting in.

Of course, thoughts and prayers are more than welcome. We'll keep you posted.

  1. That's so awesome Dave. That's exactly one month before ours is due.

It would be exciting to finally be so close to having the baby. Congrats.

  2. I think he should come on Sunday. Sunday is a fabulous day, and a great day to be born. Not that I'm biased or anything...

  3. what's wrong with letting the little guy decide his own birthday?? back in the day those decisions were left up to the babies!!

some of them can't wait to get here (my brothers were both a month early).

some are people-pleasers (my sister was born on her due date, my youngest brother the day after his due date.

and some just want to make an entrance (i was due on my parents' anniversary but kindly waited a whole extra week to make my grand appearance).

but, i guess if the doc's got a tee-time on tuesday, you gotta do what you gotta do on monday.

    good luck and congrats!!!!

  4. Julie: Thanks!

Erin: There's always the chance he could come before the induction date.

Mildred: Well, if he's in there too long it's not good either. And the doctor just got back from a week-long vacation so I trust her motives. ;)

  5. Best of luck! Becca was induced, and it was a great experience -- just about a perfect birth, from start to finish. Here's hoping yours is the same.

  6. Peter - Thanks for the encouragement! It seems like everyone wants to tell you their horror stories of induced labor so it's nice to hear that it went well for someone. :)
